The Mesquite Outlaws Sign Axel Chakounte for the 2022-2023 Season

Axel Chakounte joins the Mesquite Outlaws for the 2022-2023 season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Chakounte is a forward from Douala, Cameroon, currently living in Houston, Texas. Chakounte has previous indoor soccer experience playing for the Houston Bolt, a semi-professional indoor team in the Premier Arena Soccer League. With the Houston Bolt, Chakounte scored 11 goals and 4 assists in 7 games.

Chakounte attended Paul Quinn College, where he majored in education. During his time at Paul Quinn College, Chakounte played for the soccer team. He scored 3 goals, 2 assists, and 46 shots during the 2018-2019 season.

The 2022-2023 season will be Chakounte’s second season in the Major Arena Soccer League, and his first season with the Mesquite Outlaws. During his first season in the league, Chakounte played in 9 regular season games.

When asked about being signed with the Mesquite Outlaws, Chakounte said, “I’m happy to be signed with Mesquite. Being a forward and target, I’m excited to be learning from legends like Tatu and Nick Stavrou.”

“As a team, we have a lot of chemistry that is going to hopefully help us excel and be a top team in the league this season.”

On Saturday, November 26th, 2022, the Amarillo Bombers will be traveling to Mesquite, Texas to play the Mesquite Outlaws in two pre-season matches. This will be a community event, open to the public, for a first chance look at the all-new Outlaws team. Details can be found on the Mesquite Outlaws website and social media pages.
