Texas Outlaws Announce Ruben Luna as Club Ambassador

by McKayla Malloy

MESQUITE, Texas- The Texas Outlaws F.C. are proud to announce that former F.C. Dallas MLS striker, Generation Adidas player, US Youth Player of the Year, former Mexican International, and local soccer standout - Ruben Luna - is now a club ambassador for the Texas Outlaws.

“I am honored and proud to step back into the professional soccer environment again and this time as an ambassador. I am proud to represent my hometown, the State of Texas, and a club like the Texas Outlaws,” said Luna, “Having played professionally at various levels of U.S. Soccer, I am excited to see professional soccer grow in North Texas, especially in the realm of indoor soccer.”

Luna grew up in North Texas, and graduated from North Mesquite High School, where he had a distinguished youth career playing under F.C. Dallas Academy Head Coach Oscar Pareja before making the jump to signing professionally with the F.C. Dallas’ (MLS) first team in 2010, which made him the second homegrown signing in club history. Additionally, Luna was the first homegrown player in franchise history to score professionally for F.C. Dallas.

Oscar Pareja, current MLS Orlando City F.C. Head Coach stated, “Ruben Luna has always been a great leader on and off the field. I am proud of his success, and I want to congratulate him on his role as ambassador with the Texas Outlaws.”

Luna also brings international experience to the club as an ambassador, as he had the honor of representing Mexico on various levels of their youth national team.

Current FC Dallas Head Coach Nico Estevez stated, “I am happy for Ruben Luna and his role as the new club ambassador for the Texas Outlaws. Great addition.”

The unique connection between Luna, F.C. Dallas and now the Texas Outlaws has roots and foundations that were developed far before the recent announcement. Those roots can be traced back to the club’s new General Manager & Sporting Director, Brad Namdar.

Namdar worked with Luna during his time at F.C. Dallas where he was the Estagio (coaching apprentice) working with both the F.C. Dallas USSF youth academy program under Oscar Pareja, as well as with F.C. Dallas’ first team under Head Coach Schellas Hyndman.

Namdar stated, “I have known Ruben for many years now and know what he represented as professional player, who he is as a person, and is someone of great character,” said Namdar, “I know that Ruben will be a tremendous asset to the club, our local soccer community, and I am excited for the plans ahead.”

Luna, currently resides in Rockwall Texas, is happily married, and has two children
