OUTLAWS WIN IN EXCITING MATCHUP AGAINST THE SOCKERS

MESQUITE, Texas (February 18, 2023) – Mesquite Outlaws win 6-5 against San Diego Sockers in Mesquite, Texas at Mesquite Arena.

The first quarter started with a goal from the Sockers in the ninth minute of the first quarter, scored by Tavoy Morgan. Outlaws goal scored by Andy Reyes in the 11th minute. Sockers were issued a blue card for too many men on the field, served by Brian Farber in the 13th minute. The game tied 1-1 at the end of the first quarter. Morgan scored his second goal in the second quarter, in the ninth minute. The half ended in a 2-2 tie, after Sebastian Mendes scored a beautiful goal in the 13th minute.


In the third quarter, Erik Macias scored in the seventh minute, with an assist from the Outlaw’s newest addition Odaine Sinclair. Sinclair was acquired by the Outlaws this week through a trade with the Kansas City Comets. In the 11th minute, Kraig Chiles for the Sockers received a yellow card for dissent. Pablo Da Silva, captain of the Outlaws, scored in the 12th minutes, putting the Outlaws up by two points. Felipe Gonzales, scored two minutes later in the 14th minute, ending the third quarter with the Outlaws up 4-3. Leonardo De Oliveira tied the game in the first minute of the fourth quarter. This goal caused Outlaws goalie, Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes to kick the ball into the stands, resulting in a yellow card for delay of game. The Outlaws replaced Pollo with Juan Vences Lujano. Sebastian Mendez scored his second goal of the night in the third minute, with an assist by David Ortiz. Lucas Ramalho scored for the Outlaws in the sixth minute, Outlaws up 6-4. The Sockers scored a goal but was ultimately retracted after a challenge flag was thrown by Outlaws for a foul. Pollo went back in goal in the seventh minute, but two minutes later was scored on by Christian Gutierrez. The Outlaws shot a final goal in the last few second of the game, but unfortunately it was not counted. A fire-y end to the game resulted in a red card and ejection for Gerardo Jurado for Sockers.


Sebastian Mendes was the top goal scorer of the night for the Outlaws, racking in two goals. The Outlaws are now 10-3-2, and the Sockers are now 12-2-0.


The next game for the Outlaws is Tuesday, February 28th, against Monterrey Flash at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Kickoff for the game is at 10:05 pm CST.
