menuOUTLAWS LOSE IN OVERTIME TO THE FLASH
MESQUITE, Texas (January 21, 2023) – Mesquite Outlaws lose 5-6 in overtime against Monterrey Flash in Mesquite, Texas at the Mesquite Arena.
The Outlaws scored in nine minutes into the first quarter, scored by Luiz Morales, assisted by David Ortiz. A second goal was scored by Axel Chakounte, with an assist from Erik Macias. The first quarter ended with the Outlaws taking a 2-0 lead over the Flash.
Five minutes into the second quarter, Morales scored for the Outlaws, his second of the game. The Flash got on the board in the 12th minute of the second quarter, with a goal from Carlos Pichardo. The game was 2-1 Outlaws at the half. In the third quarter, in the tenth minute, Alvaro Bocanegra received a red card for 3 penalties in the game. Bocanegra received a reckless tackle penalty against Steven Chavez. Chavez was taken by ambulance from the arena with a serious leg injury. Once play resumed, Pablo Da Silva scored a powerplay goal, assisted by Sebastian Mendez. The third quarter ending 4-1 Outlaws.
In the fourth quarter a goal was scored by Edgar Flores for the Flash. Another goal was scored by the Flash, goal by Erick Tovar, during a powerplay after Darren Mitchell for the Outlaws received a blue card for four fouls in a half. Morales scored a hattrick goal for the Outlaws in the tenth minute of the fourth quarter, Outlaws up 5-3. In the 13th minute, Jorge Luis Cortes scored for the Flash with an extra attacker. 30 seconds later, Erick Tovar scored again for the Flash, tying the game at 5-5, sending it into overtime.
Erick Tovar scored the golden goal for the Flash in the second minute of overtime, the Outlaws losing 5-6.
Luiz Morales scored a hattrick for the Outlaws, being the top scorer of the night, and overall top goal scorer on the team with now a total of 16 goals. The Outlaws are now 6-1-2, and Monterey Flash are now 5-2-1.
The next game for the Outlaws is Youth Soccer Night on Saturday, January 28th against Dallas Sidekicks at the Mesquite Arena is Mesquite, Texas. Kickoff for the game is at 7:05 pm CST.
