MESQUITE OUTLAWS VICTORIOUS AGAINST TURLOCK CAL EXPRESS, 3-5

Turlock, California (Jan. 18, 2020) – The Mesquite Outlaws won their first match-up against Turlock Cal Express, 3-5. The victory earned the Outlaws a third-place standing in the Western division. Final attendance of the game at Turlock Indoor Soccer in California was not reported.


The first period began slowly, with only one goal from Cal Express midfielder Ivan Rios, assisted by midfielder Matthew Germain. In the second period, the Outlaws matched with an unassisted goal from forward Anthony Powell. Almost immediately after, Cal Express once again led the game from a goal by midfielder Martyn Arista, assisted by forward Ivan Campos. The Outlaws were able to tie the score by the end of the first half with a goal from forward VcMor Eligwe, assisted by defender Rio Ramirez.


The Outlaws scored the only goal in the third period - an unassisted goal by midfielder Jorge Deleon. Cal Express quickly tied early in the fourth quarter with a goal by defender Juan Manuel Rojo, with another assist by Campos. However, the Outlaws soared past Cal Express by making two consecutive goals – the first from forward Jamie Lovegrove, assisted by defender Mitchell Cardenas; the second, a bicycle-kick shot from Powell, assisted by midfielder Brenden Lee. The match ended with the Outlaws victorious against Cal Express with a final score of 3-5. First, second and third stars of the game were awarded to Powell, Cardenas and Rojo, respectively.


The Outlaws’ next game is vs. the San Diego Sockers on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 5:05 p.m. at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Games can be viewed on MASL.tv.
