MESQUITE OUTLAWS HALT LOSING STREAK WITH WIN VS. TACOMA STARS
MESQUITE, Texas (Feb. 16, 2020) – The Mesquite Outlaws snapped their six-game losing streak with a 5-2 win against the Tacoma Stars at the Mesquite Arena on Feb. 16. Attendance at the game was 1,169.
The Outlaws dominated the action in the first half, scoring four unanswered goals. The first was scored in the first quarter by forward VcMor Eligwe, assisted by goalkeeper Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes. The next three were scored in the second quarter by defender Cody Ellis (assisted by defender Mike Jones), defender J.J. Oteze (assisted by forward Jamie Lovegrove) and forward Shaun David (unassisted).
The Third quarter saw only one score, a goal by Outlaws forward Bradlee Baladez assisted by Lovegrove, that brought the score to 5-0. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Stars managed to avoid a shutout with a goal by midfielder Douglas Lima assisted by forward Alex Megson. The Stars pulled goalkeeper Danny Walton and put in a sixth attacker. That resulted in an unassisted score by defender Adam West. The game ended with a 5-2 score.
Ellis won the first star of the game with one goal. Lovegrove was the only player with two points in the game, both due to assists, and got the second star. Cortes won the third star of the game, having saved 21 shots for a save percentage of .913.
The Outlaws’ next game is on the road vs. the Monterrey Flash in Arena Monterrey. The game takes place at 8:05 p.m. CST Feb. 19. Fans also can watch the game on MASL.tv, or follow along with the action on Facebook or Twitter.
