MESQUITE OUTLAWS FALL TO MILWAUKEE WAVE, 6-3
MESQUITE, Texas (Dec. 31, 2019) – The Mesquite Outlaws lost 6-3 at the team’s first out-of-state game versus the Milwaukee Wave. While the Outlaws were able to get a couple goals off restart situations, it was not enough to beat the Wave. This is the only scheduled meeting this season between the Western and Eastern division teams. A crowd of 5,816 was on hand to watch the game.
Outlaws defender J.J. Oteze opened up the action with a goal 1:55 into the game. That goal was assisted by forward Jamie Lovegrove. Oteze followed it up in the second quarter with another goal, this one assisted by defender Mitchell Cardenas. The Milwaukee Wave came back with two unanswered goals by midfielder Mario Alvarez and forward Ian Bennett.
In the second half, Wave midfielder Luan Oliveira scored two goals, one assisted by midfielder Alex Bradley, who also scored a goal. The Outlaws pushed back with an unassisted goal by Lovegrove. Finally, Wave forward Ian Bennett scored an empty-net goal to bring the score to 6-3.
Oteze, with his two goals in the first half, received the third star of the game. The Wave’s Oliveira and Bennett received first and second stars, respectively.
The Outlaws’ next game is at home vs. cross-town rival Dallas Sidekicks. Fans who buy a ticket to the game will get a free ticket to the next home game, Jan. 4 vs. the Tacoma Stars. Tickets are available at mesquiteoutlaws.com.
