MESQUITE OUTLAWS FALL TO KANSAS CITY COMETS, 4-5

MESQUITE, Texas (Dec. 21, 2019) – The Mesquite Outlaws fell to the visiting Kansas City Comets, 4-5, in the first matchup between the two teams. Attendance for the game was 1,909.


Early in the first quarter, defender Rio Ramirez scored an unassisted goal for the Outlaws. The rest of the quarter and most of the second remained scoreless, until Comets’ forward Leo Gibson scored with 15 seconds remaining in the half. He was assisted by forward Gui Gomez.


In the third quarter, forward VcMor Eligwe scored his second goal of the season, followed by another goal by defender Cody Ellis. Kansas City followed with three unanswered goals before Outlaws defender Mike Jones kicked in another goal. The score was tied at 4 in the fourth quarter when the Comets’ Ray Saari scored a fifth goal with less than a minute left in the game.


The Outlaws had two power plays – following two minutes for tripping by Mirko Sandavari and two minutes for contact above shoulders by Ray Lee. Unfortunately, the Outlaws didn’t score during either penalty. Eligwe was named third star of the game.


The Outlaws’ next game is on the road vs. cross-town rival Dallas Sidekicks. The game will be played at the Allen Event Center on Dec. 26 at 7:35 p.m. Watch the game on MASL.tv.
