by McKayla Malloy

MESQUITE, Texas — The Texas Outlaws are thrilled to announce the return of goalkeeper Eduardo "Pollo" Cortes for the upcoming 2023-2024 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season.

Pollo, as he is referred to, has been a key asset to the Texas Outlaws, (previously known as the Mesquite Outlaws), demonstrating his exceptional skills in the net, having 663 saves and a 70% save percentage in his MASL career thus far. With his remarkable shot-stopping abilities and vast experience, Pollo has consistently delivered outstanding performances, earning him both Week 1 Defensive Player and December Defensive Player of the Month last season.

Coach Tatu expressed his enthusiasm for Pollo's return, stating, "Pollo is a talented goalkeeper, and we are happy to have him back this season."

Pollo, who has been with the Texas Outlaws since 2019, remains committed to helping the team achieve their goals for the upcoming season. He is excited for the upcoming season with the Outlaws, saying, “I know what it means to put on that jersey, who we represent- the great State of Texas, and I am just overall excited. The exciting new direction the team has shown recently on and off the field is exciting and contagious.”

“I have known Pollo for many years, all the way back to FC Dallas,” stated General Manager and Sporting Director, Brad Namdar. “He is a quality goalkeeper, and I was very happy to see him playing for the Outlaws prior to my arrival. I know he can do great things for us on and off the field.”

Pollo and the rest of the Outlaws will be back on the field at Mesquite Arena for their Home Opener on December 16.
