2021 Mesquite Outlaws Dance Team Auditions
The Mesquite Outlaws Dance Team is looking for Mesquite and DFW’s best performers to join the innovative and unique power squad.
DATES & TIMES
•Thursday, July 8: Registration opens.
•Tuesday, August 10 at 5:00pm CT: Registration and virtual preliminary round closes.
•Wednesday, August 11: Email and notification sent out with semi-final choreography and instructions.
•Saturday, August 14 at 11:00 am CT: Semi-finalists report to Centre For Dance in Richardson, TX. Finalist announced.
•Tuesday & Wednesday, August 17 & 18 at 8:00 pm CT: Finalist boot camp.
•Tuesday & Wednesday, August 24 & 25 at 8:00 pm CT: Finalist boot camp.
•Sunday, August 29 (Time TBD): Final audition and team announcement.
LOCATION:
The semi-final audition and finalist boot camps will be held at Centre For Dance at 2080 N Collins Blvd, Richardson, TX 75080. Finals location TBD.
The Mesquite Outlaws Dance Team is a unique, performance-based dance team that is open to both men and women professional performers.
REQUIREMENTS TO AUDITION:
•All dancers must be at least 18 years of age by September 1. 2021. There is no age cap.
•All candidates will be required to physically demonstrate dance and performance ability and skills, professional and public speaking skills.
•All final team members will be required to attend 1-2 team rehearsals/workouts per week, all home games, charitable events, and mandatory pre-scheduled appearances.
AUDITION PROCESS:
Preliminary Round:
•Thursday, July 8: Registration goes live. During this round, all-rookie applicants will be required to provide an audition dance video demonstrating a minimum 60-second freestyle or a 60 second choreographed dance performance. In this video, each dancer must also verbally include their name, age, and where they’re from. The video must be via Dropbox, Google link, or YouTube unlisted link. Finally, fill out the below brief registration form, submit registration payment and attach the audition video link.
•The preliminary audition registration and the video submission deadline is Sunday, August 8 @ 12:00pm CST.
Semi-Final Round:
•Wednesday, August 11: All dancers selected to advance to this portion of the audition process will be notified via email with team choreography and full instructions. The video will be via YouTube with a Pom routine taught by Coach Amber. You will NOT need to film and submit the choreography online.
•All semi-finalists will be required to arrive at Centre For Dance on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am. During this day, you will fill out the remainder of the team application and waiver, receive an audition number, and perform the choreography provide on Wednesday for the judges in small groups.
•Finalists will be announced this day and must stick around after the finalist announcement for the finalist meeting with Coach Amber and office staff.
Finals Bootcamp & Audition:
•Tuesday & Wednesday, August 17 & 18 AND August 24 & 25: Veterans will join this round. Finalists will report to the Centre For Dance at 8:00 pm. During these days, we will clean the audition routine, learn a second routine and participate in other audition and team bonding activities. Finalists are required to wear all black with a black or white shoe.
•The final audition will take place on Sunday, August 29. Time & location TBD. Finalists are strongly encouraged to wear their semi-final audition outfits for this round. The team will be announced at the conclusion of this round.
AUDITION ATTIRE:
•Ladies must wear a traditional two-piece audition outfit that includes a bra/crop top with dance shorts.
•Gentlemen must wear short sleeve or sleeveless t-shirt with shorts or pants you can dance in. Please avoid long sleeve shirts and overly branded attire.
•Any color shoe is fine. We recommend a tennis shoe, high-top sneaker, or jazz shoe.
•All visible tattoos must be covered.
•All visible piercings must be removed, excluding traditional ear piercing.
•Hair and makeup are presentable and well-groomed.
•Please keep bags to a minimum at the semi-final audition.
